Key Lime Pie for the Holidays! Noble Pies, Rye, NY
So I was hiking around in the Bronx this Fall, trying to burn off the summer tummy to make room for the winter tummy, when the call of the pie reached me all the way on the hiking trials by Orchard Beach. Where was the sound comining from? Not from the city, but from all the way upstate in Westchester! Yes, Westchester counts as "upstate" gosh darnit. Once we start having more trees than people we got ourselves some upstate and that starts somewhere in upper Westchester. Sorry there folks, just a little of my big city snobery peaking though. My bad. Anywho, there's a little pie shop over in Rye called Noble Pies that has some delicious choices going on. They have a tart and hommeade tasing mixed berry where you can actually make out the individual real fruit that was used to make the filling. No slop and glop here. They have a key lime pie that is now firmly on my NY KLP rotation. They have one called "Will You Marry Me Cherry" which, if you can bake pie like that I just might. And in case you get a sudden rush of the sugar-guilts, they have some delicious savory pot pies as well. So next time you're over in Playland or stuck in traffic on 95 looking for some respite, swing on by Noble Pies for an upstate (not letting this one go folks) treat.
